NEW YORK, NY – SUMMER 2022

Smart Design is a strategic design and innovation consulting firm founded in 1980 that has been pioneered human-centered design ever since. Smart is best known for projects like the OXO GoodGrips Swivel peeler, Gatorade GX Sweat Patch, and designing the New York City Taxi.

I joined Smart as a Design Engineering Intern, working within crossfunctional teams of engineers, technologists, designers and strategists to develop products for clients large and small.

In my role, I…

  • Prototyped silicone beverage products and accompanying mold parts in CREO with overhanging geometries and bi-stable mechanisms.

  • Completed multiple rounds of user-testing to downselect concept direction and benchmark competitors.

  • Designed and implemented 80/20 fixtures for sensor instrumentation in mid-fidelity prototypes.

  • Synthesized and presented visualizations and recommendations to clients at project milestones.
